CATHAY PACIFIC – Lounge Experience

A DIGITAL VOYAGE AT THE PALLADIUM

To celebrate Cathay Pacific’s sponsorship of six iconic London theatres, Solarflare Studio partnered with Prodigious to create a cinematic, real-time flight window installation for the VIP Guest Lounge at the historic London Palladium.

Using TouchDesigner as the core engine, the installation featured three 65” 4K LED displays designed to simulate aeroplane windows. These transformed the lounge space into a moving visual journey—virtually transporting guests from London to destinations like Hong Kong, Tokyo, and Sydney, all while showcasing the elegance of the Grade 2 listed venue.

Each screen played a looping flyover sequence composed of real-time webcam footage, shutter-sync effects, day-to-night transitions, and ambient lighting—crafted to create the illusion of flight from a window seat.

Solarflare provided end-to-end project management, including system design, robust UK-based testing, sourcing and supporting the build, and ensuring a seamless on-site installation in collaboration with the wider production team.

Unveiled in June 2024, the lounge experience marked the first in a three-year programme of theatrical digital activations, setting the standard for immersive brand storytelling in London’s most celebrated venues.
