FORGING A NEW FRONTIER IN FAN ENGAGEMENT

As part of a three-season partnership, Solarflare Studio co-created The Ultimate Knockout—a global virtual fan zone designed to bring football supporters together through real-time, interactive experiences.

This fully web-based experience brings UEFA’s brand universe to life via 3D environments, avatar personalisation using Ready Player Me, and skill-based football challenges. Players design their own avatars in The Locker Room, then compete in The Ultimate Knockout Quiz—a timed trivia battle hosted by Patrice Evra with prizes including tickets to the 2024 Champions League Final.

Built to handle high traffic across devices and regions, the platform features dynamic updates that encourage repeat engagement, along with custom logic for avatar movement, score handling, and visual transitions.

Solarflare led the production team, overseeing delivery and supporting the implementation of complex backend architecture—ensuring seamless syncing between avatars, quiz logic, and gameplay across thousands of concurrent users.

Over 30,000 fans have already taken part, marking a significant milestone in UEFA’s digital fan engagement strategy.
